COURSE TITLES

CPP 01
Micro-Counselling:

Theory & Practice: An introduction to counselling principles, philosophy and practice, with an emphasis on basic counselling skills through the use of structured exercises, role plays and audio/video simulations of counselling interviews.

CPP 02
Principles & Techniques of Counselling Process:

This course is designed to develop and refine the micro-skills into the “craft” of counselling by acquiring and using various fundamental skills associated with the four major stages of the counselling process: Relationship, Assessment/ Goal-setting, Strategy Selection/ Implementation and Evaluation/ Termination.

CPP 03
Development across life span:

The purpose of this module is to instill in the students the nature and application of various developmental theories across the life span, the theory behind behaviors which begin in infancy right till the point of death. This module is a blend of theory and practical issues seen across life span.

CPP 04
Psychopathology:

This course examines selected neurotic, psychotic, developmental & character disorders from DSM IV and considers diagnostic and treatment issues, using practical, theoretical perspectives and research.

CPP 05
Personality Psychology and Contemporary Psychotherapies:

This course covers major personality theories and an analysis of major concepts and practices of current psychotherapies to help counsellors learn how to select wisely those aspects that can be incorporated into their own developing personalized style of counselling.

CPP 06
Career Psychology:
 

This course serves as an introduction to the psychology and sociology of work and career choice using career development theories. Students learn to use counselling strategies, career-planning resources and dissemination of career information during a 5 week supervised Career Counselling Practicum.

CPP 07
Group Psychological Tests:

This is an introductory course in theory, selection and use of standardised ability, aptitude, achievement, interest and personality tests in the counselling process. Experience in evaluating strengths, weaknesses & biases of various testing instruments, laboratory experience in administration, scoring and interpretation of psychological tests are provided in the 5 week Career Counselling Practicum.

CPP 08
Practicum in Counselling:

On completion of the above programme, an opportunity to use under supervision, the counselling models learnt, is provided in a selected placement. It is conducted in the month of April for four weeks on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
